Swap Is Not in the Position Row — Where to Find It · FxPro Australia

A swap (or rollover) is the interest debited or credited when you hold a leveraged position overnight.

Swap is the cost your phone does not narrate while it happens. A position stays open past the daily rollover, interest is debited or credited according to the instrument and the direction you hold, and Wednesday nights are charged triple swap to cover the weekend — while the row in your positions list goes on showing price, volume and floating profit and nothing else. The figure is not missing from the account, only from that row: on most builds it sits in the position's own detail view, it is written into the history entry once the trade closes, and the long and short rate per instrument is published in the instrument specification. A desktop terminal can keep all of that in view at once. On a phone every piece of it is one tap deeper, which is why swap tends to be noticed rather than watched.

What you are debited (−) or credited (+) per standard lot held past the daily rollover, measured on FxPro’s own MT5 Raw+ feed (with the raw points in brackets). A negative number costs you to hold; a positive one pays you. Triple swap is applied on Wednesday night to cover the weekend value date. Carry / yr is the annualised swap yield (swap × 365 ÷ notional at the live price) — a rough guide to what holding the position costs or earns over a year, shown where we have a live price. XAU/USD (Gold)$89.90$497.30$2,059.00−$5.00−$167.00−$788.00

Total net cost to hold one standard lot over time — the spread plus accumulated swap. A positive figure is what it costs you; a negative one means you come out ahead (positive carry). For example, holding EUR/USD long for a month costs about $276, while a EUR/USD short earns about $48. Based on measured spreads and current swaps — rates vary.

Avoiding swaps

If you hold positions overnight regularly, a swap-free (Islamic) account may avoid swap interest for eligible clients. Check live swap rates inside your platform before holding overnight.

The field a positions list cannot carry

Every trading interface makes the same trade-off, and a phone makes it hardest: a row has to fit a name, a size and a number that changes every tick. Floating profit wins that place because it is the number people open the app to see. Swap, which changes once at rollover rather than every tick, loses it — not because it matters less, but because it does not move often enough to earn a live column on a small screen.

The result is a reading that is accurate and incomplete at the same time. Floating profit on the phone answers what the market has done to the position. It does not answer what holding it has cost, and over several nights those two answers drift apart quietly, in a field nobody has opened.

Three places the same number lives

Before a trade, the rate lives in the instrument specification: long and short, per standard lot, per night. While the trade is open, the accrued amount lives in the position detail on a phone and in a column of the trade tab on a desktop terminal. After it closes, it lives in the history entry for that position. One figure, three surfaces, and only the middle one is genuinely awkward to reach from a phone.

That is worth knowing before a multi-night position rather than after it. The measured table above prices a night per instrument in both directions; the instrument specification in your own terminal is the live version of the same thing, and it is the one your account will actually charge.

When the display gap turns into a surprise

The pattern is consistent: a position is opened on the phone, watched on the phone and closed on the phone, and every reading in between comes from a row that structurally cannot show financing. The trade closes, the entry lands, and the result sits a little further from expectation than the chart had suggested.

None of that requires a different platform, only one extra tap during the days a position is open — or one look at the rate before it is opened. Costs settled inside the trade itself are covered on our spreads and costs page; funding and account reports live in the FxPro Direct area rather than in the terminal.

Frequently asked questions

Does the FxPro app show swap on an open position?
Not in the list of positions, which is built to carry price, volume and floating profit. On most builds the swap accrued by that position sits in its own detail view, one tap deeper, and it appears in the account history entry once the position is closed. Check where your own build puts it before you rely on the list.
Where do I find the long and short swap rate for an instrument on a phone?
In the instrument specification, which is reached from the quote list rather than from the order screen. Rates are published per instrument and per direction, so the long figure and the short figure are different numbers and one of them can be a credit.
Why did my position lose value overnight when the price barely moved?
Because swap was applied at the rollover. Holding is charged separately from trading: the chart shows the market, while the account shows the market plus every night the position has been financed.
Is the triple Wednesday charge flagged in advance?
Not by the trading screen. Positions held over Wednesday night are usually charged triple swap to cover the weekend value date, so the arithmetic has to come from the published rate rather than from a warning on the phone.
What does a desktop terminal show that the phone leaves out?
A desktop trade tab can carry swap as its own column beside every open position and update it as it accrues. Phone layouts drop that column for width and keep the same value in the detail view: the data is identical, the surface is smaller.
How can I avoid swap charges at FxPro?
Eligible clients can use a swap-free (Islamic) account, which holds no overnight swap interest. Confirm eligibility with FxPro.
Where does swap end up if I never open the position detail?
In the account, exactly as if you had looked. It is applied at each rollover whether or not it is on screen, and the measured table on this page shows what a night costs per instrument, long and short.

What traders report

A swap only exists for the trader who is still in the market when the day rolls over, and both reports we hold come from exactly that kind of trader. One has been short GBP/USD and EUR/USD since November and says carrying them has not cost much in overnight charges; the other swings positions on a swap-free Islamic account, where by his account no swap interest applies. That is two people describing a holding style rather than rates — the rates themselves have to be read from the measured figures on this page.

FxPro doesn't charge high swap commissions. I've been holding short positions on gbpusd and eurusd since november.
